Admin/SetupGuides/AuthorisedRoot

Each machine, real or virtual should have a file in /root called AuthorisedRoot. This file should contain a list of people who are authorised to have root on said machine. This will always include the global root team, plus any other admins. Whenever a root password is given to a person, this file should be undated.

The file *must* be encrypted with the root password of the machine.

# vim -x /root/AuthorisedRoot

The default list(for 05/06) is:

The following people have root on this machine:
ikelly
diamond
davisc
bigbro
maddenj
doneagain

Changing the password

Once you have changed the machines password with passwd, you can update the AuthorisedRoot file as follows:

# vim -x /root/AuthorisedRoot

<enter old password>

In Vim:

:X

<enter new password>

:wq
