Since ITD have decided to restrict acess to Skynet from the ITD clusters (and student vilages) creative solutions come into play. This is aimed at Windows 2K users though it may be adaptable for other Windows OSs
The first thing needed is a version of PuTTY? that'll support Tunnels, i'm using 0.58 but by the time you read this there'll probably be an updated version. Connect to SkyNet? and Login. Once in Right click on the PuTTY? icon on your taskbar (it'll probablly say "skynet.csn.ul.ie - PuTTY?") and click "Change Settings..." In here go to Connection --> SSH --> Tunnels . In Source port type 127.0.0.2:139 (it might look like it wont fit, dont worry) and in Destination type holly:139. Local and Auto should be selected by default. Click Add then Apply to close the "PuTTY? Reconfiguration" window.
Next Type Windows+R (to open the Run box) and type \\127.0.0.2\tyrion replacing tyrion with your username. You should be asked for a password, to set this up you need to talk to ikelly (for the time being) or if you have root on holly just run smbpasswd -a <user>
steviewdr has also tried connecting to non-SkyNet shares and had sucess but comments that it needs a decent connection to be worth anything (Broadband). It works for 10.*.*.* and for 136.201.*.* just set up a new tunnel and instead of holly put in the ip of the UL share, also replace 127.0.0.2 with 127.0.0.* (star being any number between 3 and 254)
