Award Submissions

Here are some pointers for how to write awards, from someone who was marking them.
These points make it easier for the folks marking your submission to understand your accomplishments.
A fair chunk of this is having good formatting.
Some of these may seem obvious, but they are below because someone failed to do it.

General

It is recommended that you make a copy of the award questions as well as your responses to carry over for next years committee.
Allows them to pre-plan the awards since they arent doing it in a panic in Week 5.

Writing Awards

  1. Answer the questions
    • Folks lost marks when they didnt actually answer the question
  2. Use paragraphs
    • A block of text is hell to read.
  3. Number your answers
    • This is an extension of the paragraphs, make it easy for us to see what relates to what.
  4. Beware of copy+paste
    • Can introduce different fonts for text thats beside each other.
    • Kinda a nitpick but its noticeable when you are reading 40+ submissions.
  5. You can use bullet points and tables
    • They make it easier to read and layout information.
  6. Avoid Jargon
    • KISS - Keep It Stupidly Simple
    • Assume the marker knows nothing about your Club/Society

  7. Relevance of this event to your club's aims and objectives

    • For this your constitution was checked to see what aims and objectives were outlined there.
  8. Do not talk about the future
    • Or the past
    • Keep it in the timeframe from last submission deadline to this submission deadline.
  9. Do NOT Lie
    • sighs
    • Shouldnt have to need to say this

Social Media

  1. You can submit a PDF with links to all the posts ye want to highlight.
    • Makes it easier on the marker
    • Also allows ye to control the narrative.
  2. Flash up your own and Wolves logo at the start of any vids
    • If ye have it at the end the marker might miss it.
  3. Good (common) theme for posts works really well
  4. Accessibility
  5. Beware of Colourblindness
    • Red-Green is most common one
    • Good icons and styling helps to differentiate posts out
  6. Subtitles/Captions
    • Most platforms have the option to autogenerate text in videos.
